Working constructively with the betting industry is an important part of TIU operations. Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) are held with numerous regulators, licensees and betting operators around the world.

Match Alert Data

Match alert data received through MoUs is a valuable resource that can flag-up a range of unusual and potentially suspicious behaviours and activity. Every alert received by TIU is assessed and followed up as an indicator that something inappropriate may have happened. The learning gained from dozens of tennis investigations shows there are many valid reasons, other than corruption, to explain unusual patterns. But in all cases where alerts do suggest corrupt activity, the TIU will investigate and take appropriate action. Match alert data from betting partners has contributed to a number of successful TIU prosecutions, including those of Sergei Krotiouk, Morgan Lamri, Guillermo Olaso, Jatuporn Nalamphun and Danail Tarpov. In addition to licensing regulators and betting partners, TIU works co-operatively with organisations including Europol, national and federal police forces and public prosecutors. The Unit is an active member of Britain’s Sports Betting Integrity Forum, established by the Gambling Commission to protect integrity in sport and sports betting. It also contributes to International Olympic Committee (IOC) anti-corruption policies and is responsible, along with the IOC, for implementation of them for tennis Events at Olympics Games.
